Medical Director - Laurel Fork, VA

Job Summary

Tri-Area Community Health (https://triareahealth.org/) is a Federally Qualified Health Center headquartered in Laurel Fork, Virginia, with full-service locations currently open in Ferrum, Floyd, Grayson Highlands (Troutdale), and Laurel Fork, Virginia. For almost 40 years, Tri-Area has provided care to underserved individuals in Southwest Virginia. We offer integrated primary medical and behavioral health care in all these clinic locations. We also have pharmacies that are open in Ferrum and Laurel Fork. POSITION: We are seeking a Board-certified Physician in a primary care or associated specialty to serve as Tri-Area’s Medical Director. The Medical Director is expected to work 4-5 days a week seeing patients, completing administrative duties on site, and visiting clinics.

This position involves providing complex direct medical care of patients, including older adults, individuals with two or more chronic medical conditions, and people experiencing difficulty with social determinants of health. The Physician must operate in accordance with the terms and conditions of the various contracts and grants providing the funding for Tri-Area’s programs and projects. As Medical Director, this person supervises other medical providers and is involved in writing and implementing organizational policies and procedures.

Tri-Area Community Health is looking for a full-time Licensed Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Clinic Psychologist for our Ferrum clinic, providing both in-person and technology-based services to other Tri-Area sites and community partners. The position is 4 to 5 days a week, Monday-Friday, and no weekends. The staff member will provide integrated behavioral healthcare through warm hand-offs, counseling (individual, couple, family, group), and be involved in community outreach. Preference will be given to those with experience providing integrated care, preferably in a Federally Qualified Health Center and/or Free Clinic. The position will include collaboration with medical and pharmacy staff. Analytics Director - Laurel Fork, VA

The Analytics Director has the primary responsibility of leading the management, interpretation, and presentation of data, with a particular focus on assisting the Leadership Team to collect and utilize data to advance Tri-Area’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan. The Analytics Director collaborates with all members of the Leadership Team on their individual and collective initiatives and works closely with the Technology Director to ensure the organization has the necessary hardware, software, and contracts in place to effectively and efficiently maximize Tri-Area’s ability to be an innovative and data-driven organization at the present time and in the future. The Analytics Director understands that information and data are key business assets and operationalizes the application of data and information in order to deliver optimal performance. The Analytics Director is a member of Leadership Team and contributes to executive-level decision making by aiding in the production and communication of data in order to make important decisions on fact rather than speculation. This person in this position also assists with workflows, training, and outreach.

The Analytics Director provides thought leadership and acts as a subject matter expert in the designing and recommending of appropriate analytical approaches and methodology in addressing key issues faced by Tri-Area. The Analytics Director oversees the research, development, and implementation of appropriate data systems that lead to improved organizational performance and achievement of overall goals. This person provides data-driven reports that inform Tri-Area’s strategic direction, progress on Key Performance Indicators, and quality improvement efforts. The person assists with grant proposals and reporting, value-based care projects, and innovation efforts.

The Analytics Director must have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or another related field or equivalent experience. The person must have excellent computer skills and be highly proficient in the use of statistical and data management programs, electronic health records systems, and data visualization programs necessary to create visually and verbally engaging reports and presentations. The Analytics Director must understand patient privacy, organizational compliance, and governmental reporting requirements for community health centers.

A candidate for this position will have had at least 5 years of working experience in a health organization data analytics/information technology department, preferably working in a leadership capacity. The candidate also should have experience guiding teams through successful data analytic projects. The Analytics Director must have excellent communication skills in both verbal and written form. The person must be able to prepare and present reports that are clear, concise, convincing, easy-to-understand, and tailored to suit the audience at hand.

The candidate must be detail-oriented, be comfortable working in a collaborative setting and with senior executives, be self-motivated and require minimal supervision, be proactive, be a creative strategic and independent thinker, have superior problem-solving skills, have an ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines, have a positive can-do attitude, and demonstrate calmness and composure in times of uncertainty and stress.
