Technology
By using specialized equipment, the provider can remotely listen to the patient's heart and lungs, look into the ears and throat, and talk to the patient by video. This allows the patient to receive care without leaving the school grounds. The parents are then contacted with results and diagnosis. The parents also have the option to come to the school and be present for the child's exam or virtually join the exam.

Our Floyd School Clinic Providers
Chasity Barrett, FNP
For the past 17 years, I have worked with Tri-Area Community Health in Ferrum, where I’ve had the privilege of serving patients in several roles including LPN, RN Clinical Manager, and Limited Radiologic Technologist. Working with Tri-Area has meant a great deal to me because of its strong commitment to providing quality healthcare and strengthening the communities it serves. I’m thankful for the experience and relationships I’ve built here and excited to continue serving our region through the Floyd County school clinic.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Thomas, and our three dogs. We spend as much time outdoors as we can hiking, kayaking, and riding both road and mountain bikes throughout Southwest Virginia.
